Turtle Back Zoo

During the holidays, Turtle Back Zoo, in Essex County, hosts a Holiday Light Spectacular. It is a family friendly outdoor lights event that starts after Thanksgiving and runs till January 1st. Admission is free, but they welcome donations of food and clothes. Each weekend they host different activities for the kiddies and the train, carousel and pony rides are open! 

I may be an adult, but I still love the zoo. The zoo becomes so special when it is decorated in Christmas lights. I actually was not expecting to see any animals, but to my surprise the farm/barn house, the aquarium and reptile house were open. The zoo did close off many exhibits due to the cold weather, but it is a great excuse to visit again in the spring.

 I highly recommend to make your way to Turtle Back Zoo this December. It is a great activity for the family and it is a chance to give back.
